In 1925, Kettering saw a need for leadership training across every level of management and supervision — built on the timeless principles of respect and honesty. What began as the Foreman’s Club grew into the National Management Association, and in 1974, alongside the International Management Council, NMA helped found the Institute of Certified Professional Managers at James Madison University.

Being part of a chapter changed how I lead. I’ve picked up more from monthly meetings with people who’ve solved the same problems I’m facing than from any course I’ve taken.
Earning my CM® gave me the vocabulary and confidence to back up what I already knew how to do. It’s the credential I point to when I’m explaining what sets me apart.
I joined for the certification discount and stayed for the network. Nine years in, the people I met through my chapter are still who I call first when I’m stuck on something.

CS® was the right first step. I was six months into my first supervisor role, and it gave me a real framework instead of just figuring it out as I went.
